In Memoriam: Samuel Mayo Wylde
Owner and chairman of Energ-G Foods, Inc. since 1962, Sam was internationally recognized for his work with patients suffering from celiac sprue disease.
Because of his pioneering work in the development of digestible, gluten-free bakery products, doctors and nutritionists throughout the world sought his advice and counsel.
A World War II veteran, Sam was a popular member of the Seattle business community, active in the Rotary Club and the Downtown Athletic Club. A loyal Husky and member of the University of Washington Tyee Club, for over 60 years Sam could be found in the stands wearing purple and gold cheering on his team.
Mr. Wylde's family founded Novelty Flour Mill, headquartered in Alki Beach in West Seattle.
He was the beloved husband of Helen, father of Colleen Perry, Sam Wylde III and Jane White, brother of Marjorie Delsman, grandfather of Heidi Aaker, Wendy Williams, Cameron Perry, Heather Cardenas, Tammy Gonzalez, Eric White, Tasha VanBuskirk, Samuel Wylde IV and Alexander Wylde.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 3050 California Avenue S.W., Seattle, WA. 98116. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to St. John The Baptist Church.
